The game was witnessed by a fairly large crowd, who took keen interest in the play, which was of a very fas nature. From the first "bully" the Reds (W.F.0.A.) broke away, but Fisher rolieved, and started an attack for Carterton. This was kept up for some time, and eventually jßuuny bustled the ball through the posts, and registered Carterton's first goal. This score had the effect of livening up the Reds, and they made some hot attacks on the Whites' goal, but without success. The first spell ended— Carterton 1 W.F.O.A nil
The Reds attacked, but bard hitting spoilt a good chance of scoring. From the "bully" which followed, the ball went out to Bunny, who took it along the line at a gr«at pace, but his shot at goal went wide. After this came seme of the best play of the match; Mineti, Pragriell and La Roche kept breaking away, and a good passing rush ended in Pragnwll scoring. More play of a varied character followed, the ball going op and down the field at a great pace. From a rush by Carterton Bunny shot a neat coal from the corner of the circle, thus giving Carterton a lead of one goal. Again the Red forwards started a passing rush whiuh ended in Minett shooting goal for the Red 9. The latter still kept up the attack, and eventually after another passing rush La Roche scored, Oarteiton tried very hard to equalise matters, but the Reds were not to be denied and showed good defensive play among the backs. The forwards attacked well. Another attack by the Rods ended in a Bcore being registered by Minett. Greytown at the start commenced to attack, and the wings centering nicely kept the back division of the Garry Owen's tiusy stopping "shots" at goal. However, they were equal to the occasion, and for about 20 minutes kept the opponents at bay, until Miss Maguire, following up an especially hot drive, which'rebounded from the posts, scored a nice goal. The score waa unaltered at the end of the first half. Shortly after resuming a smart passing rush by the Greytown forwards, who were all playing a splendid game, ended in Miss E. Hum pbries notching another goal for Greytown. The Garry Owens rallied, and removed play from their territory. The splendid defence of the Greytown backs, however, prevented * them from becoming dangerous, and play remained in the centre of the field for some time. Greytown quickly returned to the attack, and Miss Dunn soored a couple of goals in quick succession. From this out the Garry Owens were kept strictly on the defensive, and the game ended. Greytown 4 Garry Owen 0 Greytown thoroughly deserved their win, as one aud all played good hookey, and ?n the ciroumstances it would be unfair to in<Hvidualiee players. For the Garry Owens Misses O'Leary (3) and M. Ooyle were prominent in the forwards, while Miss M. Collins and Miss M. Stempa \ut in some splen did defensive work. The goalkeeper (Miss Duggan) perfDrmed her work creditably. The game was ably controlled by Mr D. C. Humphrey.
