VARIOUS CASES OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES.

The! sanitary Inspector (Mr W. Cullen) reported to the meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, last evening, that there were at present iu the borough several cases of scarlet fever, one in Cole Street, one in Pine Street, one in Beutley Street, one in Worksop Koad, one in Villa Street, and throe in Bannister Street, also one case of German measles and one of diphtheria. •'Everything has been done that can be done to have the patients and places isolated as aiuoh as nos sible," stated the Inspector. "The three patients in Bannister Street are to be sent to the fever hospital at the first opportunity. The diphtheria patient is quite convalescent, so also is one of the scarlet fever cases. The general opinion of the doctors is that there is nothing in any of the oases to cause a scare, as it is an epidemic of mild cases that is spread over the borough regardless of local circumstances." The Town Clerk stated that the Health Officers had visited the places infected and had ordered three patients to the fever hospital in Hope Street, wliioh had reoently been renovated. Another oasa of scarlet fever—a mild attack—will be admitted to the hospital to-day.
