POPULATION OF THE PRO- ' VINCES. WELLINGTON, July 20. A return issued by the Rei?inu'arGeneral gives the population of each provincial district in the colony with the numerical and centesimal increase since March, 1901. Wellington stands first for the rate of progress with an i crease of 27.12 per cent, in five years, and one mouth, Auckland comes next W!tb 20.42 per cent., and Hawke's Bay third with 18.39 per cent.
