DESTRUCTION OF A THEATRE.
Received Jaly 19, 8.3 a.m. LONDON, Jnly 18. The South-Eastern Railway Company has given Mr Cyiil Maude, the well-known actor-manager, £20,000 compensation for the destruction of the Avenue Theatre. (The east wall and stage of the Avenue Theatre were demolished in December last by a portion of the roof of the Charing Cross Station, which was undergoing repairs, collapsing. The fall of the stage, maohinery and masonry, was attended with fatal results. Two men at the theatre and four at the railway station were killed, and eight seriously and 20 slightly injured.)
