JUVENILE SMOKING BILL. SELECT COMMITTEE'S REPORT. Received July 19, 9.26 p.m. , LONDON, July 19. The Seleot Committee of the House of Commons, appointed in connection with the Juvenile Smoking Bill, have made their report. They advise that the sale of tobacco and cigarettes to ohildren - under sixteen years of age be prohibited. The Committee wete unanimously of the opinion that the habit of smoking was causing deterioration ; to the boys' physique, inducing diseases from whiob girls are entirely free. COMMONWEALTH NAVY. Retseived July 19, 3.26 p.m. \ LONDON, July 19. In the House ot Commons, replying to Mr J. B. Lonsdale, Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman said that he was aware that a section of Australian opinion favoured a local navy, dut there was no reason to believe that £that was the general opinion. <:■ If . the Commoowealth decided to establish a local force he hoped it would take British advice respecting its constitution.
