MONTHLY MEETING, The monthly meeting of the Cental Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Aasociai icn was held on | Saturday afternoon. There were present—Messrs 11. Gray (chairman), J. D. Criiickshank, K. J. Dagg, P. ivioore, J. Stuc-key, D. J. Cameron, D. Guild, J. 0. Cooper, Bland i:laynPf, T. P. Lett, F. C. Lewis, W. J. WelcL, It. Johnstone, McGregor, jum\, VV. Perry, W. D. Watson, W. McKenzie, G. C. Humuiereil, B. E. Ckiuiberlain, J. P. Perry, and J. Strang. The Woorlvillo District Jockey Cluli wrnte pointing out that the dates fixed for s the Association's Show (February 19th and 20th) fllaahol with those Bxed for the Woedville races (February 29th and 21st), and asking the Association to consider the question ' f altering their dates. Jfc was decided t<-> reply that tbe Association could not alter their dates.
The Finance Committee submitted tbe annual balance-sheet and recommended its adoption The balance sheet was ordered to ba priuterl and circulated. The committee appointed to go into the question of jßxing the date of the annual meeting reported that they bad reviewed the question in all its aspects, and after careful consideration they recommended that it would be injudicious and tend to hamper the best interests of the Association if the present date for the anrina' meeting were alterad. The report was adopted. In accordanoe with bis notice of motion, Mr Summerell moved—"That the meetings of the Association be held at 1.30 p.m. between tbe months of May and September, Inclusive, instead of 1 p.m. as formerly decided," The motion was carried [unanimously. Mr SummereiP mentioned the advisablenese of altering the rules of the Association so that a certain number of members of the Committee Would retire by ballot at the end of eaob year and not be eligible lor re-election for a year. IJe thought that the fart of the same old members being returned to the committee year after year would be the means of the committee getting Into a certain groove. New members would introdnoe new ideas, which would be to the advantage of the Association. He thought the matter might well be discussed at the annual meeting.
Tbe matter was informally discussed. Messrs Guild and Welch intimated that they would not stand for re-election at the coming annual meeting. As this meeting of the Committee would be the last prior to the annual meeting, the Chairman intimated that after several years of servioe on the committee, Mr D. J. Cameron had decided to retire. The Chairman regretted Mr Cameron's decision, and moved a hearty vote of thanks to him for his past ser vices. This was carried unanimously. Mr Cameron saitably returned thanks.
The Chairman thanked the members of the Committee for their courtesy towards him, and the assistance they had given him during bis term of office as President.
