SANITARY INSPECTOR FOR MASTERTON.
APPLICATIONS to be invited. In the course uf a letter to the Maaterton Borough Council, last evening, in reply to the Council's letter regarding the proposed sanitary inspector for Masterton, the Health Department stated:—"As regards the Department co-operating with the Council in the matter of the inspector we should not consider the matter unless he' bad passed some satisfactory examination and devotes praotioally bis whole time to sanitary work. We are about to station a scoond inspector in the Wairarapa district; therefore we should not find it neoessary to ask for much in the way of special departmental work from your inspector. Praotioally tbe only thing we should find it convenient to get from him would be some report on the circumstances attending every case of infeotious disease arising in the borough. For siiob services we are prepared to recommend tbe Minister to set aside £lO per annum by way uf subidy." Tbe Council decided to invite applications for the position of Sanitary Intepeotor at a salary of £l5O, t|be inspector to be qualified under the Borough drainage by-laws.
