MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS.
The monthly meeting of the Stewards of the Masterfcon Raoing Olub was held on Saturday afternoon. There were present -Messrs 0. A. Pownall (chairman), J. lornfl, D. MoLacblan, A. J. Welch, W. Cooper, W. Piatt, J. Cress, W. lorns, R. Bui'-.k, J. Macara, A. Reside, A. G. Pilmer and D. Caselberg. An apology for absence was received from Mr W. D. Watson. The oustt'dian of the course reported that four jockeys bad been trespassing by schooling their horses over hurdles on the traok proper instead of on the training traok. The matter was discussed at considerable length. Some members maintained that the training!traok was not a fit traok on which to school horses over hurdles, bat others held that if the offenders were not fined, on this ooca ion. there would be no stopping the practice. Finally a motion by the Chairman, that the N offenders be fined £1 eaob, was carried. An amendment, proposed by Mr Cress, that no fines be imposed, was lost. It was deoided that names of six owners, whose fees are in arrears, be piaoed on the Unpaid forfeit List. Mr J. Cress was recommended for a trainer's license. The resignation of five members was acoepted. Mr Caselberg gave notiiie to move at the annual meeting of members "That in future the annual meeting be held on the last Thursday in July, instead of the last Wednesday." On the motion of Mr Caselberg, seconded by Mr Reside, it was de-, oided to purchase an; up-to-date set of sonles. Mr Pownall gave notice to move at the annual meeting, "That the Clerk of Soaies in future be a psid official." I The annual report and balancesheet was adopted and ordered to be printed and circulated. One new member was elected. j Messrs D. McLaohian, W. Piatt and A. Welch, members of the [ Ground Committee, reported that they had visited the course after a reoent heavy fall of rain and found about five chains of the course under water, owing to several culverts being blocked. The Ground Committee was instructed to submit a special report, dealing with the general condition of the ground and other matters to the next meeting. ___
