STOCK SALES.
Mr W. Rose reports as follows: During tbe past fortnight I [have held the following sales:—On Saturday, "June 23rd, JUannevirke horse sale-r-I had a fair yarding of chiefly light horses, but as they were not in great demand little business resulted. Wednesday, June 28tb, I held Mr T. O'Urady's clearing sale at Takapau. The sale was well attended, buyers being present from all parts of the district. Everything was sold ande? the hammer and the horses being well known, brought good prices, viz. Several up to £52 10s. The machinery, ploughs and drays were all sold at satisfactory prices. On Friday, June 29th, Dannevirke stock sale—Owing to the bad weather several advertised lines did not come forward, and the bidding was not at all spirited. After the sale I sold the majority of tbe lines privately, and quote as follows Cattle: 4-year-old bullocks £5 10s, 18-month steers 355, fat heifers £3 12s 6d, cows at drop and just calved £5 10s to £6 3b, springing cows £2 10s. Pigs: Weanerß, small, 2s 6d and 4s. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Htd., report:—-At Palmerston on Thursday we had a large entry of sheep, mainly consisting of poorconditioned aged ewes and inferior lamfas. These were dull of sale, but the few good quality sheep entered maintained full values. We quote:—Fat ewes IGa. 3d, forward ewes 15s 9d to 15s lid, store ewes 6s 3d to 10s, s.m. ewes in 'lamb 15s id, 15s lid, 16s Id, 18s, othors 9s 6.1 to 13s, oull ewes 3s lid to 6s, good lambs 9s 7d to lis 6d, others 6s to 8s 6d, store wethers 16s Id, inferior wothers lis 6d, flit cows £4 15s to £5 Is, forward cows £2 17s, empty heif rs £4, cows in oalf £2 5s to £2 17s 6d, 3-year steers £4 6s, 2 and 2%year steers £3 6s, 18-months steers in low condition 225, 2-year steers £2 to £2 Its, 18-montha tieifer iu low condition 355, small weaners 6a.
