Raster ton v. rangitikei

The match between Kangitikei and Masterton was played on Saturday night by telegraph, and resulted in a win for Masterton. Rangitikei playing from Marton, were represented by—Mtessrs W. Meldrum, O. C. Pleasants, -xf. Richardson, W. Tounson, F. C. Wilson, Geo. Cummings and P. P. White; and Masterton by—Messrs F. Kummer, E. Rutherfurd, vV. Kummer, A. Dagg, G. Rutherfurd, G. F. Lane, J. Dagg and T. Maunsell. Mr G. H, Dolby acted as umpire for Masterton, at Marton, and Mr R. J. Dagg, for Rangitikei, at Masterton. The games wore all very keenly contested and very interesting. Occasionally play was enlivened by humourous messages sent to ask opponents to "get a move on." Excellent arrangements had been made at each centre, and this combined with the good work of Mr V. Riohards, the operator, prevented mistakes being made. Two games were unfinished at the close of play, and will have to be submitted to adjudication, but these will not affect the result of the match, Masterton having already three games in hand. Unanimous votes cf [thanks were passed by the players to Mr W. H. S. Niohulls, for granting the use of the line and room at the Post Office, and to. Messrs Parton and Moore, *ho rendered valuable assistance in connection with supervising the arrangements.
