Roe. Greytown v. Carterton, at Carterton. Referee, Mr Lindop. ALTERATION OF RULES. The Secretary of the local Association baa received a copy of the latest authorised rales of hookey from the Secretary of the New Zealand Association. Several important alterations have been made in the rules, aud players should at onqe acquaint themselves with the changes. Following are a few of the principal alterations:— The rale which deals with the offside question it as been amended by the addition of the following words: "No player shall be offside in his own half of the ground." The alteration has probably been made for the purpose of preventing what are known as the "four halves" and "five-eighths" games, whiob systems of play have been generally oondemnad by followers of the game. As an aid to the referee it will be necessary always to have a line drawn aoross the centre of the field. The rule dealing wUh the "catch" says that "the ball may be caught, but must be immediately released to fall perpendicularly to the ground."

The rale about "sticks" has beon Altered to read "shoulders" for "shoulder." This will gire a player a chance to bit when leaning well over without giving "sticks." The alteration to the rale relat!ng to the "penalty bally" qaite settles the vexed question of where to stand daring a "penalty bully." The amended rule says; "At the time of the penalty bally both the defenders and the attaokers shall be outßide the striking oirole in the field of play." This makes a "penalty bully" very severe, and referees should be careful about giving one. KIA KAHA A v. KIA KAHA B. The following team will represent Kia Knha A in their matoh with Kia Kaba B, on Thursday, play to commence at 2 p.m.:—Wilton, Hooper, Thynne, Parton, Donald, Anderson, MoLean, Williams, Hughes, Bue and Jago.
