TE RANGI PAI.

Te Rangi Pai gave her last recital prior to leaving New Zealand for Sydney in the Masterfcon Town Hall last evening. The audience, though not large, was enthusiastic, and every item was loudly applauded. Te Rangi Pai went through a heavy programme with credit, and her beautiful contralto voice was much, appreciated. Her first song was "My Ships," and this she sang very sweetly. She was euoored, and then sang a very pretty little song, "Stay At Home." .Later on in the evening the artiste sang the old song, "Home, Sweet Home" in Maori. In response to an encore, she, sang a sweet Maori slumber song, "Hine e Hine,' of her own composition. In this song she accompanied herself.' "The Beating of My Own Heart," which is said to be the artiste's favourite song, was another pleasing item, and her last song was the well-known "Nearer My God to Thee," to which Te Rangi full justice. In the duet, Love's Ddmain," with Mr Handley Wells (bass), Te Rangi Pai distinguished herself, and such was the case when she appeared in "Home to Our Mountains," with Mr W. B. Cadzow (tenor). Mr Handley Wells possesses a bass voice with a powerful range, and his numerous items were all well received by the andienoe. That the audience fully enjoyed the beautiful tenor vuiue of Mr; Cadzow was evident from the number of encores he received. Madame James played the accompaniments, and also two very nice pianoforte solos.
