UNIVERSAL PENNY POSTAGE.
DISCUSSION IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. Received June 22, 9.45 p.m. LONDON, June 22. Discussing the postal vote in the House of Commons, Mr Henniker Heaton disputed Mr Buxtbn's estimate that the initial cost to the Department of the adoption of universal penny postage would be £500,009 a year. Mr Heaton stated that he believed the cost would not exceed £125,000. THE HOUSE OF LORDS. FINANCE BILL. Received June 22, 9.40 p.m. LONDON, June 22. The House of Lords passed the Finance Bill. Lord Goschen condemned the impolicy and injustioe of not reducing tbe income-tax.
