A FATAL ACCIDENT.

- DEATH OB 1 MR EDWARD DIXON. Mr Edward Dixon, farmer, of Abura, ami an old resident of Masterton, met with a fatal accident yesterday morning. Though it is difficult to gather the striot faots of the case, it appears that Mr Dixon and bis nine-year-old son were in a paddock -blasting stamps with "Rendrock," and it ia probable that one of the oharges. went off suddenly bafore Mr J»ixon had time to get clear of the stump, with the result that he was billed instantly. The deceased had several ribs broken, and the left arm fractured, while his head was severely injured. Drs. Gowie and A. flosbing arrived on the spot shortly-' after the accident. The lad bad a miraculous escape from death. He was considerably bruised 'about the face. The doctors immediately ordered him to bed. He was considerably bruised about the face. He w£s one of a family 0 f 14—Heven boys and teven girls—the brothers Messrs David, Charles, George, Joseph, William and Thomas Dixon. Williams, of Masterton, and Mrs Chiuchen, of Wellington, are sisters of deceased. t A widow and a large family are. j left to mourn their loss. An inquest will be held to-day.
