It is understood that neither the Peninsular or Orient Company have secured the contract. Apparenly the new line is about to enter the Anglo-Australian trade. NEW LINE OW STEAMERS. A CANADIAN-NEW ZEALAND SERVICE. Reoeived June 21, 9 25 a.m. SYDNEY, June 21. Captain Buoknell.g of the liner Pondo, which has arrived at Newcastle, referring to the new Cana-dian-New Zealand servioe that has been arranged stated that in addition to cargo the steamers will cairy mails and each oountry will pay a subsidy of £IO,OOO per annum. Ths new service will probably* include some Australian ports, that is if sufficient inducement offers. The steamers Pondo and Buoentor are taking up the running for the new line. The Pondo will load bunker coal, and then proceed to New Zealand.

ANTI-TRUST BILL. DEBATE IN THE FEDERAL PARLIAMENT. Received June 21, 10.30 a.m. EMEIBOUKNE, June 21. The detate on the Anti-Trust Bill so far has been mostly confined to the Opposition, which contends that while the Bill is designed ostensibly to protect the people against trusts, its real intention is to shut out imports. Mr Fowler, the West /Australian labour member, characterised the Bill as "Protection run stark, staring, raving mad." Mr Watson, while promising to support the Bill, indicated a number of important amendments, which Sir Wm. Lyne promised would receive attention.

Mr Watson deolared in favour of the nationalisation of monopolies but he did not want to overthrow private enterprise.
