TE RANGI PAI COMPANY.
Speaking of the sacred recital given by Te Rangi Pai in Wellington recently the New Zealand Times says:—The sacred recital given by Te Rangi Pai's Concert Company at the Town Hall last evening attracted en enormous audience. .Long before the hour of commencement arrived the vast chamber was densely crowded. Every seat was ocoapied and all the available standing room was taken up, while hundreds upon handreds of later comers were absolutely nnßble to get into the building. The concert itself, aB an entertainment, was well worthy of the patronage bestowed upon it, for the programme was admirably arranged and conscientiously gone through. Te Ransji Pai was in remarkably fine voice. Her rich, rolling tones were heard in numbers which were in every r-speot suited to her. Eaoh song was tumultuously applauded, and in the oase of Lewis Carey's "Nearer, My God, to Thee" and Mendelssohn's "0 Rest in the Lord" the audience insisted upon ao encore, and the artiste in each oase repeated the last verse. The contralto's other solos were Masoheroni'a "Ave Maria," "There is .a Green Hilt" (Gounod), and "Abide With Mo" (Liddle). Te Rangi Pai, who lias had tne honour of appearing beioro the King and Queen and almost i\\\ the crowned heads of Europe <\i!l Rive one song recital in tne Town Hall, Aiasterton, next Friday evening, when she will be supported by a strong concert company.
