BRITISH OFFICERS ATTACKED.
VILLAGERS ASSAULT THEM WITH BLUDGEONS. CAPTAIN BULL KILLED, TWO OTHERS BADLY INJURED. Received Juno 15, 10.58 p.m. CAIRO, June 15. While a body of British troops were marching from Cairo to Alexandria, five officers entered a village near Taotah to shoot' pigeons. An official instigated the villagers to surround them with guds. The officers were assaulted with , bludgeons. Captain Bull, of the lnniskillings, succumbed to the injuries he received. Twc of the other officers are badly hurt. MANY ARRESTS MADE. AN INQUIRY BEING HELD, Received June 15, 10.58 p.m. LONDON, June 15. The Daily Mail's Cairo correspondent states that the village notables invited the officers to come to the village and shoot pigeons. The villagers interfered and tried to disarm the officers. A threshing floor at that moment happened to. take fire, the natives unjustifiably blaming and attacking the officers. Many arrests have been made. An inquiry is being held.
