EKETAHUNA v. KIA KAHA A. The number of spectators tbat attonded the Major Cup matoh between the Eketahuna and Kia Kaha A teams,- at Lansdowne, yesterday afternoon, showed that the public are now taking more interest in hookey' than was noticeable in former seasons. The Clubs were represented by the following teams:— Kia Kaha A (all £laok)— Goalkeeper, McLean; fullbacks, Hooper and Thynne; halves, Hendry, Donald and Anderson; forwards, Wilton, Williams, Hughes, Rue and Jago. Eketahuna (two blues, halves). —Goalkeeper, Stuart; fullbaoks, Tripe and Cave; halves, W. Bright, Wright and Gordon; forwards, J. Bright, Aulin, Suckling, Reese and Prederiokson. Prom the "bully*' the Kia Kahas came away with the ball, and in a few minutes were in the blue's circle, but Tripe hit the ball into neutral territory. For a few moments play remained there, but the blacks worked the ball up again and Jago attempted a sbot, which went wide. Prom the bullyoff another Kia Kaha rush resulted, and Hughes passing aoross the oirole enabled Williams to shoot the first goal for the Masterton players. Eketahuna kept the ball in their opponent's territory for some time, but Thynne did not allow anything to pass and a hard drive by that player removed play to Eketahuna quarters. Prom a free bit Hendry got possession, passed to Jago, who centred nicely to Rue, who put the ball between the posts. Tbe Kia FKahas were now attacking vigorously, and from' a free hit by Donald, Rue succeeded in again shooting a goal. Shortly after halftime was called, with the score standing at— Kia Kaha A, ... 3 Eketahuna ... 0 The second half was much more even, the visitors pressing their opponents for half the spell, but then the latter's combination asserted itself, and Eketahuna were kept busy clearing their circle About halfway through the spell the local forwards got on a fine passing rush, and Rue, fielding a pass from Donald, plaoed the ball between the uprighis. Prom this until the finish play was of a give and take nature. About a minute before the call of time Williams struck a goal from a scramble in the circle; and the game thus ended— Kia Kaha A ... 5 Eketahuna ... 0 Mr S. Noble-Campbell was roferee. The visitors were'entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs J. L. Hughes. '
