WAIRARAPA EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting' of members of the Wairarapa Employers' Association was field yesterday afternoon. There were present:—Messrs J. D. Cruicksbauk, Vice-President the chair), J, fieyhoe,' G. 0. Sumraerell, J. D. Smith, J. Carpenter, J. TaiS, M. Oaselberg, C. B. Daniell, R. J. Lyttle, J. Prentice, A. Henderson and J. Graham. The halanoe sheet showed'a credit balance of £ll 17s 2d.' The (Jhairamn, 'in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet stated that members of the Wairarapa Employers Association were also members of the Employers' Federation of New Zealand. The Advisory Board of the Federation, which is elected annually at the conference of Employers' Associ ations, met frequently at the head office in Dunedin to consider questions of importance to employers of labour. A Parliamentary Secretary was also employed during the sitting of Parliament, especially to watch and report to the Employers'Assooiations on any Bills coming before tht Houae which related to the industries and interests of employers., A good percentage of the pubscriptions paid by members of the local Association went to the New Zealand Federation. ... ✓ Mr Daniell considered the Association had done excellent work during the past year, especially in connection with/ the drivers and engine drivers' awards. Mr Caselberg also referred to the usefulness of the Association, and thought members would do well to support it in every way, and attend meetings regularly. The balance sheet and report were adopted. The following new members were elected:—-Messrs Tait and Bacon, JR. J, Lyttle. cers for the ensuing year:—President, Mr J. D. Oruickshank; VicePresident, Mr M. Casleberg; Executive Committee, Messrs J. O. Bidwell, J. Carpenter, E. E. Chamberlain, 0. G. Daniell, Donald Donald, Angus Fraser, J. M. Coradine, A l . J. Giddings, Jno. Graham, Geo. Heron, E. Maunsell, Geo. Mcllattie, J. Prentice, J. D. Smith, G. 0. Summerell, J. Tait; iSeoretary, Mr R. J. Lyttle; Auditor, Mr J. C. Boddington. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Coradine, the retiring President, and other officers for services during the past year. Mr Caselberg thought that the time had arrived when Employers' Associatione shouli join with Cham'bers of Commerce in New Zealand to try and restrict the number of useless holidays which were inimical to employers and employees alike, and that bank holidays should be brought more into line with holi-

days observed by other business people. He moved, "Tbat .it be a recommendation to the Holidays Committee to take the matter into consideration." The motion was carried. The meeting clcsed with a vote of thanks to the- chairman.
