KOPUARANGA.

Wednesday. A meeting was held here ru Monday of those intmested m the town hall. Though poorly attended a satisfactory amount of business was gone through. Mr 0. 0. Jackson (chairman) read the bal-ance-sheet fihowing a credit balance of £9 9s. A motion was moved by Mr .Bruce and seconded by Mr J. Donovan, "that the amount of £IOO which is the mortgage on the hall be raised by shares of £5, payable £1 per annum." An amendment was moved by Mr R. D. MeKeuzie, seconded by Mr G. Stewart, "that the settlers of the district lake over the mortgage from the present trustees, whom by some misunderstanding are owners of the hall, and obtain security for the money locally." Mr (j. Stewart moved as a further amendment "that a committee consisting 'of i-Measrs G. Bruqe, R. D. McKonzie, J. Donovan, G. H. Clarke, C. Jackson, J. J. Cottle and the mover bo appointed to go further into the business; This motion was seconded by Mr C. Petersen. The meeting was eventually adjourned to Thursday, June 14th, when matters relating to the Town Ball will bo further discussed.
Complaints are being made in connection with the speed at which motor bicycles and motor cars are driven along the roads in this district, Several serious accidents have been narrowly averted. A social is to bo held in the local hall next Tuesday evening.
