STOCK SALES. Mr W. Rose reports as follows: Daring the past fortnight 1 have held the following sales:— Monday. 21st May, Woodville.— There wa9 only a limited entry, and practically all young cattle, consequently very little business transpired. Saturday, May 26th, Dannevirke horse sale.—l had a capital entry of over 100 horses, including those of Mr White, the contractor. All his horses being well and favourably known, there was keen competition for them. Heavy draughts realised from £4O to £SO, spring carters £2B to £lO light harness £lO to £lB, backs from £5 to £ls. Monday, May 28th, Ormondville stock sale.—Theie was a full yarding of cattle, composed ohiefly of store stock, for which there was little or no competition. Friday, June Ist, Dannevirke stook sale:—Owing to the inoleraency of the weather the ad.ertiaed sheep did not oome forward. There was a fair yarding of cattle, and although the sale was well attended, at no time during the proceedings was the bidding spirited, consequently several lines were passed in. After the sale I disposed of several lines privately, including the big line of 20 month steers. 1 quote as follows:—Three-year-old steers £4 7a 6d, 18 to 20-month steers £2 6s 6d, fat heifers £4 ss, springing cows £3 103 to £4 ss, springing cows £3 10a to, £4, weaners 10s to 12s 6d. Pigs: Porkers 24s 6d, weaners 6s.
