(From Our Own Correspondent).

As waa antioiDated this match resalted in a olose oontest. Both clubs bad the best available teams in the field, and from the start it was evident that the game waa going to be fast and exciting. The ball was kept ohiefly amongst the forwards'. Nireaha's speedy forwards worked like "niggers" right through the spell, and were far more consistent than Konini in their following up. Good work was done oy J. Quinlan (wing) and Gardiner and McDonald. After a lot of give and take play the ball was worked by Konini into their! opponent's 25. 0. Smith picked up and made a dash along the line; he sent the ball to Bissett, who beat the fullback and scored. S. Smith took the kick at goal but failed to convert. Konini ... ... 3 Niroaha ... , ... 0 From the kick-off the Nireaha forwards rushed the ball right down the field and from a sorum inside Konini's 25 the ball came out to Young. The latter passed to Mitchell, who transferred to MoOne. The latter missed the ball, and a good chance to soore was lost. When the whistle sounded at half-time the score was:— Konini 3 Nireaha 0 From the start of the second half the ball was rushed up and down the Held with marvellous rapidity, good work being put in by S. Smith (five-eighth), Gregory and G. Smith (forwards) for Konini, whilst J. Quinlan, Young(flve-eignth) and Oannone (wing three-quarter) did yeoman service for Nireaha. The gatre at this stage was so evenly oontested that it looked as if no further scoring would occur. The attaok and defence of both teams was solid. Eventually play was shifted into Konini's 25 by a forward rush. Young picked up aid made a rapid pass to Mitchell, who sent the ball to MoOne, who with a quiok dash scored. This was the best bit of back play during the afternoon. The passing was quiok and clean. Knowles added the extra points. Nireaha 5 Konini 3

The game after this wis loose but fast. M. (Januone (wing tbreequarter) put in some useful kioks, and be also made a splendid dash along the line. After this Konini worked the ball down to Nireaha's goal line, and from a loose bit of play the ball went to R. Smith, who potted, but without auooess.
