A PROGRESSIVE BUSINESS.

(Prom Oar Umn Correspondent). ■i BKETAHUNA, Jane 2. Messrs MoGarry Bros., proprietors of the Star bakery and confectionery business, in Eketahuna and Parkville, commenced here in September last and by prompt attention to their business and bytheir progressive spirit have now the satisfaction of knowing that they merit the support that is given them. To enable them to cope with the, requirements of inoreased trade,.they have recently had buil!; a new shop and larger bakehouse. The latter is fitted with a new style of oven that is capable of turning out 420 loaves. Messrs McGarry Bros have also opened a refreshment room in Eketahuna, where confectionery, afternoon tea, and light refreshment can be obtained at any time from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m. Their wedding and birthday oakea are of excellent quality and design. Balls, parties and suppers are catered for on the shortest notice and at ■' reasonable prices by this enterprising firm. Picnic hampers can also be supplied. Their bread, as advertised in another column, is of tne best quality, and is delivered daily throughout the district. The refreshment room'.'and shop has jus'; been thoroughly renovated by Messrs Sparksman and Co., who have shown good taste iu3 the selection of the wall-paper designs and painting. The Eketahuna Batter Factory (whioh is a branch of the New Zealand Dairy Union) has jnst completed a most successful and prosperous year. The average grade for the butter made by this branch last season was 93, which is higher than the previous year. The daily output of butter was 3)£ tons. Referring to the milk test, the highest average test last season was 5.5. This was obtained by a supplier to the Eketahuna oreamery. The faotory will be working right through the winter months.
