The "creep" in the Central Mine is more serious than that which occurred last July. The plant and machinery have been ruined underground, and the works generally are damaged.
A thousand men have been idle. Great fissures occur in the surface.

The Australian Workers' Union haß iHsued a policy manifesto. It points to a determination to endeavour to secure better terms for shearers, and will use every constitutional means before proceeding to take any other steps.

The revenue for the State for the past eleven months shows nn increase of £908,000. DEFENCE ESTIMATES. Received June 1, 10.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 1. The defence estimates prepared by the Military Board exceed tboae of last year by £200,000.

The Federal Treasurer states that he has a scheme which he is confident will settle the State debts question. He will not make it public until he has submitted it to Parliament.
