Some of the rebel natives who took part in the fighting were armed with battle-axes. , Uolonel Leuohars crossed the border, seized some cattle, and entrenched bis forces in a rnealie garden. Sibindi's followers were in the centre. The next morning a thousand rebels made a sudden and desperate attack. They shot conJJ tinuoualy at Sibindi's followers kill ing three and wounding twelve. The rebels were repulsed after having displayed the greatest bravery. Some were killed within a few yards of their opponents' lines.

Troops operatiug at the scoue of Tuesday's fight, cleared the caves and killed 21.
There were no British casualties. Another of Kula's brothers has been arrested.
