CASTLEPOINT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meetiug of the Counoil was held on Saturday, when all the members were present. It was decided to alter the hour of meeting from 2 p.m. to 10 a.m. during the months of June, July and August.
The Clerk informed the meeting that Mr Johnston had signed the plan of the road from Whakataki to Castlepoint, and had also signed an agreement to convey the land for a new road as soon as the old road was closed and handed to him. It was decided to take steps to close the old road as soon as plans were available.
Mr Toogood wrote pointing out that the Mangapakeba Stream is enoroaching on the road at a point opposite to the cottage at Temairi, aud offering to find £6 towards erecting two atone groins tbere if the Council will find a similar umount. Crs Ryder and Nicholls, with the Clerk, were appointed to examine the Mangapakeha Stream at Temairi, and authorise the necessary work to be done.
Mr Sohofield applied to have the drains cleared at his paddock gate as the water was flowing over the ploughed ground. It was decided to have the work done.
The Road Overseer tvas directed to get the ruts filled in on the Uriti Road in the Masterton County, and also to get the water-tablea cleared on the old formation near lea Gate. Cr Langdon asked the Council to deoide on the proposed deviations in the road from Swamp Creek to his grass paddock to avoid the floods. The' Clerk was directed to write and request Mr Barton to attend, with Councillors for the West Riding, and decide as to oarrying out the proposed deviations. Or Nicholls applied to have a drain cleared on the Penrose Road. Granted.
Acoounta amounting to £212 19a Id.were passed for payment. The Clerk was directed to again advertise for a Councillor for the North Riding.
