Following is the result of the Derby Stakes, of 6,500 sovs, for entire colts and fillies, foaled in 1903; colts Ost, fillies Bst 91b. About 134 mile:— Sir Tatton Sykes' b c Spearmint, by Carbine Maid of the Mint ' ... 1 Mr J. L. Dugdale's ch c Picton, by Orvieto—Hecuba ... 2 Duke of TCestminster's b c Troutbeck, by Ladas Kydal Mount 1 ... 3 (According to the quotations on Wednesday Spearmint was quoted at 9to 2. Lully, the winner of the Newmarket Stakes ruled as favourite. Last season Spoarmint ran on three occasions, winning one race—the Great Foal Plato, of £835. He ran second to Bluck Arrow in the Champion Breeders' Biennial Foal Stakes, and finished fourth in the Richmond Nursery Handicap. Picton eported ailn in eight races, three of which he won, including the Dewhursfc Plate of £1,367, and,the Joliffe Two-year-old Stakes.
