CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor). Sir, —In a letter which appears in your issue of to-dey, "A Probable Candidate" assumes that because Councillor Warren's name does not appear on the copy of the eleotoral roll for the riding of Alfredton, which lies open for public inspection at the Tawataia he (Councillor Warren) has ceased to occupy the position of' a County eleotor, and consequently that his seat in the Council has become vacant. Councillor Warren's name is still on the electoral roll now in force, and will certainly remain there until June 30th next, when the roll expires. The roll, a copy of which is deposited at Tawataia, was prepared, in terms of "The Counties Act, 1886," during the month of April last, and subject to such alterations as are provided for by law, forms the basis for the roll for the year commencing on July Ist next, but it can have no effect whatever until that date. If Councillor Warren then still holds a qualification his name will appear on the new roll as heretofore.—l am, etc., F. G. MOORE, County Clerk. May 29th.
