DUNEDIN, May 22. ' At the annual meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and OhUdren, a motion waa carried in favour of the appointment of a female inspector by the Benevolent Trustees. In supporting the motion, Dr. Siedeberg narrated the faota of some startling cases to show that women would tell women things they woald not tell a male inspeotor. One of the worst cases, Dr. Siedeberg said, was that of a woman who, prior io her fourth conflneent, was assaulted by her husband, who had frequently . used his feet on her for the purpose of killing the child. He had succeeded, four 'of the children having died before or a few days after birtn. , This woman had not cared to lay the faots before a oommittee of men.
