A correspondent writing in the Southland News on tbe success of the oil bore at Taranaki, suggests that Orepuki, Southland, bo fpr as oil is oonoerned, is very rioh. As is well-known, the distriot is one bed of shale, and if oil is there he thinks it should be prospeoted for, as it would be a boon, not only to Southland, but to New Zealand as a whole. He. thinke that if tbe Taranaki field is a success, wbioh it is, tbe Orepuki field ought to be doubly so.
