GERMAN VISITORS IN ENGLAND.
PRAISE d*F THIS KAISER. Received May IG, 8 18 a.m. LONDON, May 16. The Committee for the Study of Foreign Municipal institutions entertained the German burgomasters at a dinner in London. Lord Avebury presided. King Edward, in response to a telegram conveying the visitors greetings, promised to receive the burgomasters on Friday, and expressed the x hope that their visit would be in every way a pleasant and successful one. Mr Haldane, Secretary of State for War, speabiug in German, described the Kaiser as "a great European and a great man—a man who had a keen appreciation of peace, commerce, , and education," He added that the more Britain and Germany came together,'the better it would be for both countries.
