TRUST LANDS TRUST.
i ANNUAL MEETING. The annual statutory meeting of the voters of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust was held in the Town Hall last evening. Mr C. E. Daniell, Chairman of the Trustees, presided, and there were also present:— Messrs E. Feist, T. B. Miohell, J. C. Ewington, T. Wage, D. A. Morton, W. JB. Jaokson, J. Phillips. The annual report (copies of whioh have already been circulated through the Wairarapa Age) was taken as read. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, said the small attendance at the meeting was unfortunate. lie thought that people were satisfied with the work of the Trustees during the year, and tvoiild not attend the annual meeting to'criticise their work. The balance sheet was not yet audited, and he did not blame the people for not attending the meeting when they could not have a statement of the accounts placer! before them. Mr Feist seconded the motion, wdich was oarriied. . Mr Jackson asked if it were correct that the Trustees proposed to introduce a Bill during the coming session.
The Chairman replied that it was the intention of' the Trustees to draft a Bill which would merely be a technical amendment of the Empowering Aot. Mr Jackson <?aid that he preferred to see & Bill introduced having a wider soope. He would like to see provision made for the handing over of the Town Hall to the Borough. The Chairman said the Trustees were responsible for the holding of the Trust property and the looking after it, and any Bill proposing to divest the Trust of some of its property would have to come from an outside souroe. The meetincr, which ocoupied about 20 minutes, concluded with n vote of thanks to the Chairman.
