THE NATIVE DISTURBANCE.
Reoeived May 15, 9.30 a.m. PIETERMARITZLSUEG, May 14. The Zulu chiefs Bambaata and Siganani have quarrelled. The former, with a few followers,' has entered an almost impenetrable emone bush. There it: a growing impression that Bambaata wishes to leave the rebels in the lurch. Colonel Murray-Smith's forces chased Mteli's rebels across the Buffalo River into Norfcu. Several natives were killed in crossing, and six surrendered. Each native carried four assegais and a shield. The Umvoki Field Force has arossed tbe Tugela River, and begun their punitive operations in Natal. A SEARCHLIGHT IMPRESSES THE LOYAL CHIEFS. . Reoeived May 16, 12.2 a.m. PiETERMARITZBURU, May 15. The searchlight used at Ukandhla greatly impressed tbe loyal chiefs. One of them declared that at night time God, with only one eye, had turned it upon the natives in anger. When the light was flashed in the faces of the ohiefs they cowered in silence before the white man's witchcraft.
