(Prom Oar Own Correspondent)' Thursday. Tbe annual Sobool concert was held at Rongokokako on Friday night, and was a deoided suooees. The prizes won by the children were distributed .by Mr Hare, Chairman of tbe School Committee. The prizes won at the recent Eketahuna Show were also presented. The Clerk of tbe Eketahuna Towa Board was instructed at the meeting, held on Tuesday night,' to request Mr D. Dobson, of Masterton, to prepare, plans and specifications for the proposed drainage and to ask him to superintend the work. The public sobool at Altredton was totally destroyed by fire between five and six o'clock last evening. The origin of the fire is unknown. Fending arrangements being made for a temporary school it has been deoided by the Committee to take the winter vacation now. An enquiry will shortly be held by the Board. The Postal Department have de cided to establish a sub-excbauge at Altredton in connection witty the telephone service. At the of tbe Chamber of Commerce last night Mr J. A. Hastwell introduced the subject of a light line of railway between Eketahuna and Pongaroa; as a solution of tbe problem it was suggested to meet representatives fiom Masterton and Pabiatua with the idea of running the line from here. There are a number of improvements which require attending to at She local cemetery, and it behoves the local body conoerned to take the matter in hand without delay.
