NEW YORK'S SEAMY SIDE.
REPORTED PLOT TO ASSASt SINATB DR PARKHURST. The sensational raid against vice in New York city, whioh was originated by Dr Parkhurst, tbe famous clergyman of New York, was recalled the other week, when Mr Jerome, the Public Prosecutor, began legal action to bring about an Investigation into tbe allegations that have been made to him that a plot has been 'hatched to assassinate Dr Parkhurst. It is about three years since Dr. Parkhurst led a parky crusade involving the raiding of the luxurious houses of ill-fame in New York, which resulted in charges against the police of levying biaobmail on unfortunates.
A number of the police officers implicated, aided by other interested parties, bribed, it is alleged, a man to murder Dr Parkhurst. Tbe plot was revealed to Mr Jerome, and he summoned the snspeoted man to appear a; the Magistrate's Court to be questioned as to the information be has in bis possession.
