NATIVE DISTURBANCE. REBELS NUMBER EIGHT THOUSAND. Received May 1, 9.24 a.m. PIETERMAKITZBURG, April 30. Mr Smyt'ie, the Natal Premier, learnh that the rebels iu Natal number eight thousand. It is reported that two white people are among the rebels. It is supposed that they are connected with the influx of arms. Oarbineers at Ukanhla had a skirmish with Bambaata's impi. The rebels are armed with old rifles and assegais. REWARD FOR BAMBAATA WITHDRAWN. OARBINEERS SHELL THE REBELS. A THREAT. Received May 2, 1.39 a.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, May 1. Tne Natal Government have withdrawn the reward offered for the rebel chief Bambaata. They will undertake as far as possible to try the rebels civilly. The Oarbineers shelled the rebel natives five miles from Ukundhla. Bambaata threatens to sjambok ana shoot deserters.
