FRANCE.

MAY DAY IN PARIS. Received April 30, 9.29 a.m. PARIS, April 29. Extraordinary uneasinejs is felt in Paris at the approach of May Day. A considerable number of nervous people are removng their valuables to the country. Police precautions have increased, owing to a determined attempt to blow up the Railway Bridge at L'4rgentiere. The attempt was a comparative failure, owing to the exposure of the dynamite to tne air. M. v Glemeuceau, Minister of the Interior, has ordered many domiciliary visits.

The Opposition press treats the suggested plot as a political burlesque, which has been arranged in view of the coming elections. (It was stated last week that, fearing May-day disturbances in Paris, the garrison in that city had been increased to 50,000 men, and the polioe strengthened by 30,000. M. Olemenoeau informed a labour deputation that he meant to maintain order).
