WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report:—We' offered, on Friday. 30 bale 3 wool, 2,500 skins, 200 hides and a quantity of tallow and horse hair. Wool sold at same rates as have been ruling for some sales past. We quote:—Coarse erorsbred to lOd, infeiior and logaliiined to 9V<3, piooea and bellies 7d to 7%d, looks 3d to sri, good lam ha wool lOd to lid, medium lambswool, 9d to 9%d, seedy 6>£d to B%d. Skins: There is no change to reoord. We quote:—Merinos 9d to fine orcssbreds 9d to lOd, ooarße crossbreds 9d to 9%d, dead skins 8d to abort wools to woolly skins (green) 5s 6d to 6s 6d, woolly lambs skins (green), 4s 6d to 5s sd, lambs pelts 3s to 3s .10d.' Tallow: Casks 21s 3d, tins 18s, sacks 13s 9d. Horsehair: Is 6d to 2s per lb. Horns: 7s to 18a per 100. Hides: Owing to advices of falling; markets in Australia prices fell here We quote: —Ox hideß sJijd to 6d, cow hides 5d to 5%d, cut and slippy hides 4%d to sd, calf skins s>£d to 6%d. The next sale will be held on May 11th. Messis Dalgety and Go., Ltd., report as follows on their fortnightly sale of wool, skins and hides, held on Friday afternoon—Prices were firm at late rates. Only inferior lots offered. We quote*—Crossbred to 9%d, inferior crossbred 8d to 9d, lambs B%d to 9%d, orutchings to pieces Bd, locks Sheepskins: Prioes were also firm at late rates. We quote:— Crossbred 9d to 9%d, lambs B%d to 9%d, inferior lambs 6d toshort wools to 9J4d, dead 7%d to B)£d, pelts (inferior) Is 8d to 2s lOd, broken and inferior to 7>ad, green skins 5s to 6s sd. Hides: The market showed a decline of to per lb," and bidding was very slack, especially for inferior lots. We quote:—Prime ox BJHjd, to 5%d, cows sV£d to 5%d, yearlings out and slippy ox 4d to i%d, cut and slippy cows 3%$ to 4d, calf skins s>£d to 6d, out ana slippy calf 3>£d to 4d. Tallow: In casks 21s 6d,"in tins 17s 3d, rough fat 14s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—Otir fortnightly sale was held on Friday, when we offered and sold a large catalogue of skins, etc. Buyers were it) full force, and prices obtained were on a pur with recent rates. . We quote:—Wool: Coarse crossbred (seedy and inferior) B%d to fine crossbred (inferior) B%d to 9%d, crutchings from to 7}£d, pieces and bellies 4>£d to 7d. Sheepskins: Sound pelt crossbred, half; woolled to 93£ d, quarter woolled to 9d, broken and damaged 7%d to lambs 8d to lOd per lb, green skins from 4s 6d to 6's 6d, lambskins from 3n 6d to 5s 4d. Hides: Nothing prime offered. We quote: Qood ox s}£d to 5%d, cow 5d to 5%d, damaged from 4d to 4%d, oalf from 6d to for sound and damaged from 2d to 5%d. Tallow: In tins to 18s 3d, in casks up to 22s for good mixed. Horsehair: Frotia 9d to 2s 3d per lb.
LONDON MAKKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cables from their London house, under date of the 26th instant:—Butter: If we do not have rain, an advance in prices is probable. The Copenhagen official quotation la lower by two kroner (about 2s 3d) per tiwt. It is impossible to forceast the future state of the market. The total imports of but. ter into the United Kingdom for the week ending the 21st instant amounted to 72,000 cwt, as com pared with 95,000 for the corres ponding perid of last year. There is more demand for uasalted than salted. Colonial butter is steady, while Danish ia weak and irregular. We expect a decline in prices for unsalte.l when European supplied increase. Frozen meat: New Zealand frozen muttou prices are lower by to %d; frozen beef, sides, lower by par to %d\ frozen lamb, also, low,or by par to %d. The frozen meat market, in general is very dull, bat there is fair inquiry for Now Zealand iamb. Tallow: Prices foT tallow in general are unohanged, since our telegram of the 11th instant, and there js '.ess disposition to do business.
