CARLTON CRICKET CLUB.
A general meeting of members of the Carlton Crioket Club was held in tue ; Occidental Hotel, on Saturday evening. *Mr W. Piatt, vicepresident, presided. It; has been decided to bold the Olab's annual social and dance in the Drill Hall on May 31st. The following gentlemen were elected a Social Committee, with power to add: MessrsE. Welch. W. Denby.W. Piatt, J. Waters, 0. Gorbett, H. Welch, J. Wickeus, and the joint iecretaries, E. Collier, J. O'Leary, A. O. Levien, Messrs P. P. Weloh and T. Flaws. A meeting of the Social Committee will be held on Wednesday next, in 1 Mr Ohennella office, to make definite * arrangements. The allotment of the various trophies, presented by Messrs W. Cragg, W. Piatt, H. Lamming and E. Welch to the clab for competition daring the past season, resulted as follows, with the names of the successful members: —Mr E. Welch's trophy, bat or gold medal for highest batting average in club, won by Mr F. P. Welch, who ia a neat speech thanked the donor for hie trophy. Mr Cragg's trophy for the winner of the bowling avnrage, won by Mr Boyd. Mr Lamraing's trophy, valued at £1 le, for the best fielder in the club was won by Mr J. O'Leary. Mr Piatt's trophy for best improved junior was left over for the time being. A vote of thanks was accorded Messrs A. 0. Hathaway and J. Welch, junr., president and vicepresident, respectively, for their'donations of half a guinea each to the funds of the club. A vote of thanks was also passed to Mr O'Meara for the use of the room.
