MASSACRES IN ARMENIA.
TERRIBLE SCENES. HUNDREDS KILLED. Reaeived April 17, 8.55 a.m. LONDON, April 16. Private letters reobived in England state that Tartars, led by Government agents and police officials, bombarded and set fire to Armenian houses at Ashugaris, in the Caucasus. The defenders, including women, fought desperately with revolvers and daggers. Hundreds were massacred, including children. None were allowed to survive. The soldiers and police did not interfere. Similar scenes oocurred at Andush and other places.
