REDUCTIONS CONTEMPLATED,

CHRISTCHURCH, April 11

At his Rangiora meeting, last night, the Premier said he would indicate the direction iu which reductions were contemplated. A reduction of 33 per cwt on sugar meant a saving of £69,058 to the people of the colony. The remission of tbe duty on dried fruits accounted for another £24,050; that on maizena and cornflour, £1,495; potatoes, £3,255; cotton goods (to 10 per cent.), £15,549; forfar and lineus, etc., £6,40-4; tobacco (from 3s 6d to 2s 2d), £131,105.
