BAZAAR AND EXHIBITION.

A meeting of the general committee of the oombined Band, Volunteer and Fire Brigade Bazaar and Exhibition was held in the Drill Hall, last night, Mr A. B. Charters presiding over a large nuirber of members. The prizes for the art union, amounting in all to £l5O, were drawn up. The first prize is a piano, valued at 60 guineas; aeoond prize, a carved suite of furniture, valued at £25: third prize, sewing machine, valued at £l4 10s; fourth prize, a grapbophone; and twenty other valuable prizes. The tickets, in addition to giving a chance in the art union, will also admit holders to the bazaar, etc. The chairman reported that the ladies had commenced their sewing bee, and were making good progress. The social .committee reported that arrangements for the series of weekly dances were well in hand. The first takes place on Wednesday, April 25tb. The Drill Hall floor is being specially prepared. After having been thoroughly washed, all the cracks in the floor ar6 being tilled in with a special preparation, and the floor should be in first-olass order. The purchasing committee reported that a considerable amount of material had been arranged for for making various articles, which would be raffled. A special printing committee has been appointed, consisting of Messrs Charters, Pragnell and the secretaries, Messrs Johnson and O'Connor, to arrange for all necessary printing and advertising. An amusement committee, with power to add, consisting of Messrs F. Hunn, R. Hosking, F. W. G. McLeod, U. Hutchinson, W. Clayton, 0. Ewington, A. O. Levien, H. Blocfcley, was also formed. Mr W. Aysoa was appointed treasurer. Various other matters in connection with the Bazaar were discussed. It is anticipated that the Bazaar and Exhibition will be a great success. 91KE LONGS.
