Four offioers of tbe Scots Guards at Aldershot have been arrested on a charge of brutally "ragging" a young officer who was unable to live expensively. They imeared the unfortunate officer with motor-oil and covered bis head with jam, causing a nervous breakdown.

Mr Haldane, Secretary for War, has ordered a strict investigation into the affair.
