COSSACKS WHIP AN OFFICIAL TO DEATH. ST. PETERSBURG, March 23. Cossackß arriving by the MoscowKayan Railway wantonly quarrelled with the peasants, many of whom weie injured, and are now in the hospital. The Cossacks also whipped an assistant utationmaster to death. ANTI-JEWISH CAMPAIGN. RUSSIAN OFFICIALS PUNISHED. ST. PETERSBURG, March 23. The Russian official responsible for the pamphlet inciting the people to murder Jews has been dismissed and the censor reprimanded. (A great outcry was caused in St. Petersbure by the publication of the pamphlet referred to in the above cable. The pamphlet was published in theNovoe Vremya newspaper, and was endorsed by the censor. It accused Count Witte of joining in the Jewish conspiracy). AN EDITOR IMPRISONED. Received March 25, 4.45 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, March 24. Alexis Sovrin, editor of the Russ newspaper has been sentenced to a year's imprisonment in a fortress, for an offence agaiDSt the press laws.
