PARK COMMITTEE.
The Park Committee of I the Borough Oounoil met last evening. There were present—Crs J. C. Ewington (in theohair), J. Elliott, W. Mor rie, and T. G. Hoar, An apologyfor absence was received from Or P. \Y. Temple. Correspondence from the football clubs in Maaterton and Cricket Council waa held over until a later meeting. it was decided to ask the Engineer to furnish a plan and estimates uf the cost of river works to protect the ten acres on the banks of the Waipoua River; also, levels and estimates of the cost for ornamental waters on the ten acres. The Town Clerk was instructed to write to Mr T. E. Donne, Superintendent of the Tourist Department, and ask for the services of the Department's landscape gardener to plan out a scheme for beautifying the 29 aores adjoining the Park; also, to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, aud enquire wbat has been done in connection with the proposed scenery reserve on the northern side of the Waipoua River, and to remind him of the promise to have a Bill passed during the coming session to vest the nineteen aores of land adjoining the Park in the Borough Council. It was deoided to meet the Engineer on Monday next, at 11 a.m., with reference to the improvement of the cycle track in the Park, the widening and improving of ttye football practice ground, and other improvements in the Park.
