THE ORPHANAGE.
CHRiSTCHUROH, March 21. At a meeting of the Charitable Aid Board to-day, a long discussion took place on the findings of the Oommissiou appointed to investigate the Waltham Orphanage trouble A motion was adopted that in the opinion of she Board the Commissioner's findings (a) that the Orphanage has been improperly managed and controlled, (b) that the allegations of the absence of moral training was proved, that the charge of "laob of example and influence" was true, were not borne out by the evidence adduced at the enquiry; also, that it was the duty of the State to look after its children, and the Board asked the Government to take the necessary steps to oarry it into effect during the next session of Parliament. The Board resolved to retain the Orphanage as a receiving home, and to advertise for a new matron.
