CIVIL COURT.
MASTERTON—THURSDAY. (Before Mr W. P. James, S.M.) Debt Oases.—Judgment for plaintiff by default with costs was given in eaob of the following debt cases: -- A. J. Giddiags v. Lydia Higgs, claim £9 Is Bd, oosts 8s; T. Wagg and 00. v. George Henry Goodall, claim £7 2s 3d, oos,ts £1 3s 6d; Joseph Dixon v. George Henry Goodall, claim £l4, costs £1 5s 6d; T. Wagg and 00. v. l'Vank Burson, claim £l7 7s Bd, oosts £1 13s fid; Hooper and 00. v. George Downes Oakley, claim £2 9s 6d, costs 12s. Judgment Summonses.—Chamberlain Bros. v. James Foley, claim £6 13s 6d. Defendant appeared, and under examination stated that he was now residing at Petoue, arid receiving £2 10s per week. He had a wife to keep, and owing to his sustaining an injury to one of his legs he was kept away from his work, and had to pay heavy doctor's bills. The Magistrate, in delivering judgment, stated defendant did not an* swer the questions put to him in a satisfactory manner, and he appeared to have had money sufficient to satisfy the debt since the date of judgment. Defendant was ordered to pay forthwith; in default seven days' imprisonment. The order was suspended so long as defendant paid 10s per week. The first payment is to be made on Maroh 19th. Philip Juno v. William Oostello, claim £2 Bs. There was no appearance of defendant, and he was ordered to pay forthwith; in default seven days' imprisonment.
