BAZAAR AND EXHIBITION.
A meeting of representatives from the Fire Brigade, Municipal Band and Volunteers, was held last night, to consider the question of raising funds to put tbe three bodies mentioned on a sound financial position. Captain Charters "presided over an enthusiastic meeting. After considerable discussion it was decided to hold a combined Bazaar and Exhibition and Art Union, for the ween, commencing on September 3rd. It was reported that a large number of ladies have already signified their willingness to assist. A strong general committee has' been formed, and the following will aot as an executive oomcrittee:— Captain Jenkins, Lieutenant Ewington, Foreman MoEwen,, Lieutenant Morton, Sergeant-Major Brighting aud Sergeant Ayson, Bandsmen Russell, Hutchmson and Clayton, with Captain' Charters, as Chairman. Messrs A. K. Johnston and F. O'Connor were appointed joint secretaries. It was decided to hold u series of dances during the winter months in connection with the Bazaar, the first to take place in the Drill Hall, on Thursday, May 3rd. The committee will, meet again on Wednesday, March 28th, when a progamme will be drawn up, and sub - committees appointed. The three institutions are entering into the project with great enthusiasm, and special efforts will be made to provide an original and attractive programme.
