When bis score was at 37 Logan was missed by Hughes in 'the slips. With bis total at 46 Logan played forward to a ball from Fenton. and was clean bowled. The batsman received a great ovation on returning to the pavilion. McKellar was the next batsman, and during bis short stay ftt the wickets he appeared over anxious. When he had made five, he was bowled by O'Brien. Maunsell was still batting well. Esson joined the Carterton player, and with a nice strobe for four, off Fenton, Maunsell reaobed bis century. The bowlers were now tiring and the batsmen were taking advantage of it. Esson knocked up 24 in a very short time, when he gave a difficult chance to Cato, low down at midon, which was accepted. About this time Maunsell bad two lives. When bis score stood at 115 he gave a oatch to Goldsmith, which was missed, and he was again missed at 120 by O'Brien. Judd joined Maunsell, and played out time, both men batting well. Maunsell was at the wiokets for 3% hours, and he was loudly applauded bb he returned to the pavilion. Medßrs W. H. L. Galwey and E.
