A movement is on foot in Wanganui td hold a re-union of the survivors of the following corps which operated during the Maori War:— Tbe Wanganui Cavalry, commanded by the late Captain John Cameron ; the Alexandra Lancers, commanded by the late Captain fl. S. Harrison ; the Kai Iwi Troop, commanded by the Hon. John Bryoe; and the troop known as "Finnimore'sTroop." Some time ago the Government invited tenders for a direot steamer servioe between New Zealand ports and South Africa,via Premantle, with permission to call at one other port in Australia. The conditions were for a six-weekly servioe over a two years contract, and tenders dosed on the 31st January. It is understood that very few tenders .were received and that none of those received were satisfactory. Consequently no tender has been acloepfced.loepfced.
